2017 CSRS Meeting Invitation
Friends and Colleagues,
CSRS heads to Hollywood, Florida from November 29 through December 2 for the 2017 annual CME event. This year’s event will be hosted at the beautiful Diplomat Beach Resort which is situated along a beautiful stretch of beach on the Atlantic Florida coast. Hollywood is nestled between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale, a short 10-minute drive from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and approximately a 30-minute drive from Miami International Airport. As your local host, it is truly my pleasure to invite you to join us to participate in the CSRS educational and social activities that will be offered this year.
The instructional course preliminary program and faculty for the first day of the meeting are now posted on-line on the CSRS website. Michael Daubs and his instructional course committee have developed a great line-up of topics focusing on cervical trauma, degenerative cervical disorders, tumor and deformity, complications: best practice management and master surgical techniques, tips and pearls. As you can see, the faculty is superb and the topics are timely and innovative. Note, this is a separate registration event which precedes the annual meeting.
Immediately following the instructional course is a networking reception on Wednesday evening. All attendees, exhibitors and their guests are invited to attend and interact with the CSRS Board, ICL faculty, and our international VIPs. This year we hope our new members and all registered residents and fellows will attend to learn about CSRS and how to become more involved with our organization. Beverages and light hors de oeuvres will be served at this early evening event so you have the evening to enjoy.
The annual meeting Scientific Program Committee under the direction of chair, Louis Jenis have selected another great series of papers and posters for presentation along with the research award presentations, updates and panel discussions led by CSRS members and faculty, many of whom are the recognized experts and thought leaders in the field. Extras this year include case presentations and industry workshops.
Not to be missed is Darryl Brodke’s Presidential Guest Speaker, Col. Lynn Scheel, USAF who will be speaking Thursday morning. Col. Scheel is the Commander, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, Detachment 200 and Professor of Aerospace Studies at Purdue University. The mission of Det 220 is to “inspire, develop, and commission Purdue University cadets as United States Air Force offices who are ready to lead Airmen and meet our Nation’s security challenges.” His speech will address the common threads between surgery and military aviation. You will not want to miss this dialog.
Another event you won’t want to miss are the Industry Sponsored Workshops. The non-CME workshops will take place on Thursday from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm. Pre-registration is not required and lunch is included. Companies will have the opportunity to present the latest spinal techniques to attendees.
The CSRS website is your source for meeting information and will be updated when new information becomes available. Annual meeting presentations and timing, industry workshop topics and specific CME information will be posted.
Mark your calendars and consider joining us in Hollywood to experience the very best in cervical spine education and innovation. The instructional course and annual meeting offer category I CME credit from the AAOS and the AANS. Register on-line prior to October 15 to be eligible for the discounted early registration fee. Hotel information is available as well and you are encouraged to reserve your accommodations as soon as possible.
We look forward to seeing you in Hollywood in November.
