LOI Application Guidelines
Information Needed for CSRS Research Grant Letter of Intent Application

• Active CSRS Member name and email address
• Names and emails of all investigative team members
Please note, all investigative team members will be required to complete a financial
disclosure form in order for the LOI to be reviewed.
• Project Title
• Hypotheses: Briefly describe the goals of the of the proposed research and summarize the
expected outcome(s). List succinctly the specific objectives of the research proposed.
• Study Proposal/Methods: Describe the overall strategy, methodology, and analyses to be used
to accomplish the specific aims of the project. Provide description of planned statistical analyses
and sample size estimate.
• Significance of Project and Benefit to Cervical Spine Community: Briefly explain the importance
of the problem or critical barrier to progress in the field that the proposed project addresses and
how it will improve scientific knowledge, technical capability, and/or clinical practice.
• Previous Work in this Area: Briefly describe the work that you and your co-investigator(s) have
done that clearly demonstrates your team’s ability to perform the proposed project.
• Budget Overview & Explanation – including total amount requesting: Outline the budget and
explain what you specifically will use the funds for. Do not exceed the max budget allowed for
each grant category. Please note: CSRS does not fund indirect costs associated with the project.
• Project start and end dates
• References (2 pages max- PDF format)
• Supporting Tables, Figures, Illustrations (optional)
• Abbreviated Curriculum Vitae: Provide a brief CV for each principal or co-principal investigator,
listing only the information that is relevant to this project. (do not exceed 1 page for each CV,
PDF format)
