Dr. Alpesh Patel provides the best available evidence strongly supports against the use of steroids in acute spinal cord injury: results are no better and risks, including mortality, are higher. Given the substantial limitations of steroids, our efforts would be better served focusing on treatments that have an actual benefit to cord injured patients.
